Austen in Amsterdam: Isotope effect in a liquid-liquid transition in supercooled aqueous solution

We investigate the H/D isotope effect in a liquid-liquid transition crystallization-resistant supercooled aqueous solution. Using steady-state infrared spectroscopy and measuring thermal conductivities, we observe ?5 K shift onset temperature of transition, value that is similar to shifts HDA-LDA Widom line pure water [Kim et al., Science 358, 1589 (2017)], highlights importance effects water's regime. By employing multivariate data analysis find isosbestic point related phase transformation both isotopic systems, indicating coexistence during transition.
